Tertiary Education Leadership and Management Forum: Leading and Managing Collaborative Research

Invitation for UMAA members from Professor Leo Goedegebuure
Director, LH Martin Institute for Tertiary Education Leadership and Management , The University of Melbourne

Tertiary Education Leadership and Management Forum: Leading and Managing Collaborative Research

A forum on tertiary education leadership and management in Kuala Lumpur

Time: 4.00 – 6.00pm ( Afternoon tea will be served)
Day and date: Wednesday, 7 November 2012

Venue: Hilton Kuala Lumpur, 3 Jalan Stesen Sentral, 50470 Kuala Lumpur

In this forum I will be joined by Professor Alan Pettigrew, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of New England and current Adjunct Professor at the Australian National University, and Associate Professor Hamish Coates, Director of Higher Education Research at the Australian Council for Educational Research and Project Director of the OECD's Assessment of Higher Education Learning Outcomes (AHELO) Feasibility Study.

Professor Pettigrew will touch upon his experience and involvement in the Australian government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy while Associate Professor Coates will provide some insights into his experience of leading an international consortium of agencies for the AHELO project. There will be opportunities for questions, discussions and further networking at the event, which we are hoping would be the start of an ongoing conversation between tertiary education leaders in Malaysia and the LH Martin Institute.
The LH Martin Institute is an Australian national institute established with the support of the Australian Government to provide advanced leadership and management training for the next generation of tertiary education leaders. We offer an integrated set of programs, events and research projects tailored to the professional and career needs of leaders, professionals and academics. While serving the education sectors primarily in Australia and New Zealand, we have an explicitly outward global focus. In particular we aim to facilitate deeper connections with colleagues in Asia through events such as this.

Thank you in advance for your willingness to participate and I would be grateful if you could please extend this invitation to peers and colleagues in tertiary education who might be interested.

To ensure that the event is appropriately catered for, we would appreciate those wanting to attend to RSVP to Amalie Rozsa (amalie.rozsa@unimelb.edu.au) by October 19, 2012.
