Congratulations Yeo Ling Mien

As is happening all over, alumni of The University of Melbourne are busy building their careers. Some of us find it fit to set off in other institutions as prestigious as The University of Melbourne sharpening their learning. And a number would earn scholarships to do so.

UMAA is happy and proud to announce that an alumni who has served UMAA very well over the past years has been awarded the distinguished Chevening Scholarship by the British Government coupled with the Mansion House Scholarship bestowed by the Lord Mayor of London which will co-fund her scholarship.

Congratulations to YEO LING MIEN!

Ling as she is affectionately known, graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2009 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) majoring in Actuarial Studies. While in Melbourne, she kept herself active by being a student mentor, a student host at the University Open Days, a Student Appeal volunteer as well as being active in various clubs and societies. She also worked in The University of Melbourne as a tutor and in various administrative capacities during her time in Melbourne.

Upon her return to Malaysia, she joined Securities Commission of Malaysia with her latest assignment being within the Supervisory Specialist Risk Department.

She served UMAA as Secretary from 2013 to 2015, and has continued to serve in the UMAA Executive Committee thereafter. She reveals that one of the positive points her scholarship selectors noted was her active involvement within UMAA.

Ling will be in the University of Southampton pursuing Master of Science in Risk Management. UMAA wishes Ling the very best in her studies, and again the heartiest congratulations!
